How to write a solid proposal

How to write a solid proposal

There is no one answer that will land projects for you. The key element to proposal writing is persuasion - the ability to convince the employer to hire you to complete their project. Freelancing, by its very nature, is competitive. The number one reason for losing a project is the failure to make a better showing than your competitor. Though you may convey freshness and excitement in your proposals, you may fail to show employers that you can do the job better than the competition.

Even though each proposal should be tailored to the professional and the project he/she is applying for, there are seven key elements of a successful submittal - introduction, relation of project to experience, explanation of skills, provision of Portfolio/Solution/WebLink samples, implementation plan, pricing and time estimates, and closing.

Additional things to consider when submitting your proposal.

Make sure that your resume, and references are complete and up-to-date.
Spend the time and personalize each proposal to the employer's needs.
Focus on quality over quantity - avoid proposal spamming.
Make sure that all documents are free of spelling and grammatical errors.
